Mr. Leonid Slutsky, head of the Russian Legislative Assembly International Committee and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, referred to Britain's punitive sanctions against Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on its sanctions list a new height of absurdity for Western cancel culture.

"The Western ‘cancel culture' has now reached new height of absurdity. The British authorities have put Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on a sanctions list. The reason - participation "in actions that destabilize Ukraine," - Mr. Slutsky noted.

He suggested that British politicians looked in the mirror and "behold the real destabilizers - those who for years have pitted brotherly Slavic peoples for their geopolitical benefit, brought a split among Ukrainian believers."

"Is the Orthodox faith destabilizing Ukraine? What's stabilizing it? Western arms shipments, neo-Nazism and gangs of sexual perverts? Persecution of the Church has never led to anything good," he also noted.
