President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has congratulated Orthodox Christians, as well as all citizens of the country, who today celebrate one of the main holidays of the church calendar – Christmas.
The Russian leader stressed that this holiday gives believers joy and hope, it gives inspiration for kind thoughts, deeds and deeds. At the same time, on Christmas days, it is clearly felt how important paternal and family traditions, passed down from generation to generation, are for people.
"The Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations in Russia play a huge creative role in uniting the people, in preserving our historical memory, unique cultural and spiritual heritage," the Kremlin quoted Putin as saying.
He drew attention to the importance of the contribution of religious organizations to strengthening the institution of the family, educating young people, as well as to the establishment of moral ideals and values in society.
"This multifaceted, sought–after work deserves the deepest recognition," said the President of the Russian Federation.
Putin wished all Russians who celebrate Christmas health and well-being.
