Volunteers of the Kostroma region are restoring an outstanding architectural monument, part of the ensemble of the Neronovo estate — the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. The fundraiser was opened jointly with the Astashovo and Surroundings Foundation as part of the Conservation project in 2021.
With the funds raised, the volunteers managed to conduct a 3D scan of the monument, develop a conservation project and make fragmentary repairs. Now there is a more detailed study of the brickwork and roof, the implementation of a conservation project has begun, so the temple is surrounded by scaffolding.
Neronovo is located about 30 km south of Soligalich, on the high bank of the Veksa River, near the ancient highway to Chukhloma, and is one of the few noble estates preserved in the Kostroma region.
The church is filled with icons and unique documents discovered recently. Religious studies volunteers work with them. Most of the icons have been put in order, the emergency ones have been dismantled. Specialists carried out cleaning of the holy faces, antiseptics and preventive gluing, and also collected scree. Some icons were transported to Moscow for further restoration of carvings and church fabrics.
