On March 21, 2025, at the Church of Saint Sava in Vračar, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porphyry led a service during which an Akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos was performed.

After the prayer, the Patriarch met with the parents of the young people from North Macedonia who are receiving treatment in Serbia following the tragedy in Kočani. They expressed their deep gratitude for the support and help provided by Serbian medical institutions. Currently, 30 individuals, who sustained severe burns from the fire at the Pulse nightclub that claimed the lives of 59 people, including many teenagers, are being treated in hospitals in Serbia.

A seven-day period of mourning has been declared in the country. The Macedonian Orthodox Church expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, while the Serbian Church calls on the people not only to mourn but also to unite in faith and prayer.

In his pastoral message, Patriarch Porphyry emphasized that the path to peace in society begins with the inner transformation of each individual:

"Peace is impossible among us if we do not find peace within ourselves, with God's help and the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos. The boundary between good and evil passes through each of our hearts, and until we purify ourselves, peace around us will remain unattainable."

At the conclusion of the service, Patriarch Porphyry urged everyone to continue praying for the victims of the Kočani tragedy, for their families, and for the doctors caring for the wounded. "Lord Jesus Christ, grant peace to the whole world, to every heart, to every person. Teach us love, understanding, and openness to one another," said the Primate of the Serbian Church in his concluding remarks.
