On Lazarus Saturday, Bishop Urzhumsky and Vsevolod Omutninsky, on April 12, 2025, performed the great consecration of the central altar of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Urzhum, Kirov region, and led the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church.
His Grace was co-served by the secretary of the Urzhum diocese and rector of the cathedral, Priest Dimitri Kukovyakin, as well as the clergy of the cathedral, Priest Alexander Laptev and Priest Vladislav Shepelev. Liturgical hymns were performed by the cathedral choir under the direction of the regent, Matushka Elena Lapteva.
Holy Trinity Cathedral was originally consecrated in 1900 by Bishop Alexy of Vyatka and Sloboda. In 1929, the cathedral was closed and then ravaged by atheists.
The restoration of the temple is currently underway — Alexey Timin, a restorer, is currently working in the cathedral. Thanks to donations from parishioners, he completes the painting of icons of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and St. Alexander Nevsky on the cathedral columns.
