On January 29, 2026, at 10.00 a.m., a presentation of the work of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission "Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission — assistance to injured civilians in Donbas and other regions of the conflict zone" will take place in the Cathedral Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
The presentation will take place as part of the XXXIV International Christmas Readings. It will be headed by Archpriest Mikhail Potokin, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service and the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission.
The event participants will get acquainted with up—to-date information on assistance to the Russian Orthodox Church in the conflict zone, from housing rehabilitation to hospital ministry. The results of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission's three years of work will also be presented during the section.
The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission was established by the decision of the Holy Synod in August 2023 for the overall coordination and development of assistance to affected civilians and internally displaced persons in the conflict zone. The Mission was entrusted to the Chairman of the Synodal Department for Charity. In October 2024, taking into account the actively developing activities of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, it was registered as an autonomous non-profit charitable organization. Deacon Igor Kulikov, Head of the Social Ministry Department of the Synodal Department for Charity, has been appointed its director.
