On February 15, the annual diocesan assembly of the Philippine-Vietnamese diocese took place in the Philippines. Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi, the diocesan head, provided updates on the construction of temples, new parishes, and ordained priests. Reports from the diocesan deans and leaders of various departments were presented. Plans for diocesan events and construction in 2024 were also approved.
Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi presented a report on the diocese's activities over the past year. He emphasized that in the previous year, four priests and three deacons were ordained. The day after the assembly, two more ordination ceremonies, one for priests and one for deacons, took place in the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos Church in Polomolok, Philippines. Additionally, two more priestly ordinations are scheduled during Metropolitan Pavel's subsequent visit.
It was also noted that four students from the diocese are studying in St. Petersburg, and two are enrolled at the University of Yugra in Khanty-Mansiysk.
"In 2023, the parish of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in Polomolok was accepted into the diocese, and in the previous assembly, the Resurrection of Christ parish in Lake Sebu was received, opening the parish of St. Nicholas in Dipolog," mentioned the hierarch. "Our diocese is growing with new churches and, of course, requires more clergy. Last year, we managed to continue the construction of a large temple building in Kinabalan. The walls have already been erected, and I hope that this year we will complete the construction."
