On March 27, 2026, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for External Church Relations, met with His Holiness Catholicos Basil Mar Thomas Matthew III, Primate of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in Kottayam.
Vladyka Anthony conveyed to His Holiness the greetings of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and thanked him for the invitation to attend the rite of consecration of the holy world. His Holiness Catholicos Basil Mar Thomas Matthew III conveyed his warmest regards to the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church and his gratitude for sending the high representative of the Moscow Patriarchate to the celebrations of ecclesiastical significance for Indian Christians. During the meeting, His Holiness the Catholicos and Metropolitan Anthony discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation between the two Churches and exchanged memorable gifts. 
The meeting was also attended by Metropolitan Abraham Mar Stefan of Great Britain, Europe and Africa, Priest Ashwin Fernandis, Executive Director of the DECR Malankara Church, and Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), DECR Secretary for Inter-Christian Relations, and Priest Nikolai Vasin, Secretary to the DECR Chairman, accompanying Metropolitan Anthony.
