On March 22, 2025, on the eve of the Sunday of the Cross during Great Lent, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Zaraisk, prayed during the evening service at the Church of Blessed Matrona of Moscow in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar.

The service was conducted by the parish rector, Priest Alexey Erizu. Among the worshippers were Father Georgy Maximov, the head of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Archpriests Vasily Randrianaiwu and Nikolai Bruno, the dean of the Northern and Southern church districts of Madagascar, as well as clergy from two deaneries.

After the service, Metropolitan Konstantin held meetings with five clerics from the Alexandrian Patriarchate, after which they were received into the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church.

On the same day, the archpastor performed the sacrament of Baptism for one local resident, while two more Malagasy people joined the Orthodox Church through the sacrament of Chrismation.
