On May 15, the Mayor of Alanya (Turkey) Osman Taryk Ozcelik thanked the Russian Orthodox Church, whose parishes are located, in particular, in Antalya and Alanya, for participating in socially important projects of the city.
A certificate of appreciation was awarded for participation in the charity fair in December 2024. The Orthodox community sent all the proceeds from this event to the Patika society, which helps people with disabilities.
The parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Turkey have been engaged in charitable activities for many years. So, during the earthquake in 2023, the communities of the Moscow Patriarchate in Turkey sent basic necessities to the disaster zone. Parishioners from Antalya went to the victims as volunteers, the website of the churches and communities of the Moscow Patriarchate in the territory of the Turkish Republic reports.
Parishes have also repeatedly helped compatriots who find themselves in a difficult situation far from their homeland.
