On October 25, the XXIII Open Intellectual Tournament of St. Tikhon's Orthodox University for the Humanities took place in the Cathedral Chamber of the Moscow Diocesan House. 20 teams took part in the competition.
The tournament was held with the blessing of Bishop Methodius of Yegoryevsk, Rector of St. Tikhon's Orthodox University for the Humanities. It brought together students from St. Tikhon's University, theological academies and seminaries in Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and Yaroslavl, as well as representatives from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University and the Russian Orthodox University of St. John the Theologian.
The participants had to complete three rounds of 12 questions. One minute was allocated for the discussion of each task. In addition to erudition, the players needed logic, attentiveness, and teamwork. The program also included musical tasks: according to the works that sounded, it was necessary to determine their authors, the time of creation, and other information.
The victory was won by the team of the Sretensky Theological Academy, which scored 14 points. The second place was taken by the St. Petersburg Theological Academy. The third place went to students of the Faculty of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics of St. Tikhon's Orthodox University for the Humanities, representing the field of "System Administration".
Special jury prizes were awarded to the teams of the pedagogical, historical, philological and Theological faculties of St. Tikhon's Orthodox University for the Humanities, as well as Kolomna Theological Seminary. The winners and prize-winners were awarded diplomas, medals and gifts, and the winning team was awarded the tournament cup.
The organizer was the Department for Social and Missionary Work of the Orthodox St. Tikhon University for the Humanities. More than 40 students of the university's Volunteer Corps helped with the competition. After the award ceremony, the participants, organizers and members of the jury continued to communicate over a shared meal.
