Representatives of the Mercy Kazan Orthodox Service and the Raifa Bogoroditsky Monastery (Kazan Diocese) have opened the Raifa Meal project in Donetsk. The organizers handed over a mobile kitchen equipped with appliances, kitchen utensils and a stock of food.
A specially equipped van was delivered by Denis Gusev, the head of the Raifa Meal project.
Olga Varganova, curator of social activities in the Volga Federal District and the LPR of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service, head of the Mercy Kazan service and the Mercy Volga Resource Center, tells how the project came about: "A year ago, I came to the Donetsk diocese to study social ministry and visited Father Alexy. Bystrova at the parish in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Vsetsarina". He spoke painfully about people who had nothing to eat and nowhere to get hot food, and he wanted to start helping them. That's when the idea was born to apply to the Raifa Meal project. Thank God, everything worked out, and now those in need in the Donetsk diocese have hot dinners."
Within the framework of the Raifa Meal project, it is planned to distribute hot lunches to all those in need on a weekly basis. Everyone will be fed on Sundays in the church of the All-Tsaritsa Icon of the Mother of God.
The first meal took place on March 22 at the end of the Divine Liturgy. The locals were treated to a hot lenten lunch prepared in a new mobile kitchen.
Also last summer, the mobile kitchen of the "Raifa Meal" was delivered to the Church of St. Mitrofan of Voronezh in Lisichansk.
The Raifa Bogoroditsky Monastery together with the Mercy Kazan service implements the charity project "Raifa meal". It is aimed at providing social assistance and spiritual support to the needy residents of the Republic of Tatarstan and neighboring regions. As part of the project, hot lunches are distributed to church parishioners, people in crisis situations, low-income citizens, and single pensioners in parishes after divine services.
