The Publishing House of the Moscow Patriarchate has published the Orthodox Church calendar "Filling the Day with meaning" for 2027.
The Orthodox Calendar with Spiritual Readings is an annual thematic application of the official Patriarchal calendar of the Russian Orthodox Church. The publication is well illustrated and aimed at a wide range of readers.
The lives and teachings of the glorified saints of God and ascetics of piety, narratives of holy places and glorious pages of Russian history have always been evidence of the enduring importance of the gospel commandments, served as a spiritual guide for the Russian people, strengthened their faith in God and love for the Motherland. For every day of the church year, the "Filling the Day with Meaning" calendar contains soul-beneficial readings in which the foundations of life according to the Gospel are revealed through remembering great people and sharing the spiritual experience of saints.
The calendar details many saints and church-historical events, whose anniversaries will be celebrated in 2027. Among them are the 600th anniversary of the repose of St. Cyril, Abbot of Beloezersk; the 550th anniversary of the repose of St. Paphnutius of Borovsk; the 150th anniversary of the repose of St. Anthony (Medvedev), Radonezh, Vicar of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra; the 75th anniversary of the repose of Blessed Matrona of Moscow; the 450th anniversary of the birth of Prince Dimitri Mikhailovich Pozharsky, an outstanding Russian a military leader and statesman in the era of Troubles; The 200th anniversary of the birth of Konstantin Petrovich Pobedonostsev, Chief Prosecutor of the Holy Synod, an outstanding church statesman; the 150th anniversary of the birth of St. Luke the Confessor, Archbishop of Simferopol; the 150th anniversary of the birth of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy I of Moscow and All Russia.
The calendar also includes a monthly calendar with liturgical notes, which contains references to daily readings from the Holy Scriptures recited in churches during worship.
