Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem has invited Christians from around the world to gather at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for the Holy Saturday service, where the traditional Holy Fire ceremony is expected to take place.

In a message published on the official website of the Jerusalem Patriarchate and addressed to “all who seek peace and love,” the Patriarch emphasized the unity of the Church on this sacred day. He described the anticipated light emerging from the Holy Sepulchre as a powerful symbol of Christ’s Resurrection. “This is the light of the Resurrection. This is the faith of the Church,” the message reads.

The statement highlights the continuity of a centuries-old tradition preserved “as it was lived by the fathers and ancestors.” Particular attention is given to the ritual passing of the Holy Fire “from hand to hand,” seen as a visible expression of the enduring Christian presence in Jerusalem.

Patriarch Theophilos also called on believers to gather “in prayer and hope” at the Holy Sepulchre, encouraging them to bear witness to the Resurrection and to offer prayers for peace and justice across the world.

The invitation follows Good Friday services held at the church and led by the Patriarch. After the service, he received delegations from various local Orthodox Churches that had arrived in Jerusalem to receive the Holy Fire.
