Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas visited the Holy Dormition Monastery - Sarov Desert on March 13, 2026. The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese inspected the monastery buildings. During the inspection, the archpastor of Nizhny Novgorod got acquainted with the progress of landscaping works.
The head of the Nizhny Novgorod Archdiocese, in particular, visited the church in honor of St. Seraphim of Sarov and prayed in his recreated cell, over which a church was erected after the death of the saint.
At the end of the inspection, a meeting was held at which the ongoing work was discussed and their continuation was planned.
The monastery is being improved as part of the development of the Arzamas - Diveevo–Sarov pilgrimage and tourism cluster.

The project to develop the Arzamas - Diveevo–Sarov pilgrimage and tourism cluster in the Nizhny Novgorod region is being implemented with the support of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. For this purpose, in April 2018, an autonomous non-profit organization "Management Company for the Development of the Sarovsko-Diveevsky Cluster and the Nizhny Novgorod Region" was established. The priority objectives of the project are the revival of the Sarov and Diveevskaya monasteries, the development of transport infrastructure, the creation of conditions for increasing the tourist flow, as well as ensuring a comfortable stay of tourists and pilgrims in the cluster.
