Representatives of the police and people in military uniforms raided the ancient Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Belozorye, Cherkasy region of Ukraine.
According to the Union of Orthodox Journalists, with reference to the telegram channel "Dozor", the participants of the seizure entered the church after the completion of the Divine Liturgy, when most of the parishioners had already gone home. At that moment, the priest was holding a memorial service, which was attended by several believers.
People in police and military uniforms ordered the priest to leave the premises immediately and announced that the church was now the "property of the OCU." ""When believers asked the village council for clarification, officials said that a certain "community" had allegedly issued a "transfer to the OCU."
MP Sergei Rudyk, a supporter of the schismatic structure, said that on September 27, "services" of the OCU would be held in the captured shrine. At the same time, supporters of the schism in the village had previously had their own premises built with the assistance of this deputy, but they decided to deprive believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the opportunity to worship in their own church.
