The health of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania has deteriorated in recent days. On January 5, doctors at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens released a report indicating that the condition of Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania remains critical, according to orthodoxia.info.
Archbishop Anastasios was transferred to Athens from a hospital in Tirana after his health worsened due to a viral infection complicated by gastrointestinal bleeding. The initial assessment by Athenian doctors described his condition as stable despite a complex medical history. However, the situation remains serious.
On the same day, January 5, representatives of the Church of Greece visited the Archbishop, Romfeia reports. Metropolitan Hierotheos of Nafpaktos and Metropolitan Ignatios of Dimitriada conveyed blessings and wishes for a speedy recovery on behalf of Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and members of the Holy Synod.
In response, Archbishop Anastasios expressed deep gratitude for the support and prayers, emphasizing the importance of spiritual solidarity during difficult times.
Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria also joined the prayers for the Archbishop’s health, sending a letter with wishes for his recovery. In the letter, he highlighted Archbishop Anastasios’ significance as a “tireless preacher of repentance and salvation,” calling for continued prayers for his restoration. Patriarch Daniel expressed hope for Archbishop Anastasios’ swift recovery, describing his life as an example of dedication to the Church and its people.
