Clergy and volunteers of the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese carried out a humanitarian mission in the village of Tayabas on Luzon Island following a Divine Liturgy celebrated on December 6 by Hieromonk Ioann (Gondayao), a cleric of the Iveron Parish in Manila, according to the Telegram channel of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia.

Aid packages were distributed to local residents, many of whom are still recovering from the impact of recent typhoons. The nearby Orthodox community of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the village of Laviga is considered one of the poorest in the diocese. Despite hardships, the parish has been steadily growing in recent years: regular services are held, and diocesan charity staff and volunteers provide continuous assistance to those in need.

The community was formed after a series of mass Baptisms held in the Pacific waters off the Luzon coast between 2023 and 2025. It now includes around one hundred faithful, most of them children. Clergy and volunteers frequently travel from Manila to conduct liturgies, offer catechesis, and distribute humanitarian relief.

The Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese has consistently supported residents of Luzon, which frequently suffers from tropical storms. Last autumn, priests and volunteers assisted victims of Typhoon Trami, which caused widespread destruction, power outages, and numerous casualties. Emergency distribution centers for food, drinking water, and temporary housing materials were set up to help affected families recover.
