The Synodal Department for Charity has begun accepting applications for participation in the twelfth All-Russian Nadezhda Monetova Homeless Aid Competition. Leaders, staff, and volunteers of church, government, and community organizations that help the homeless are invited to participate.
The winner will be determined by a group of experts led by Archpriest Mikhail Potokin, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Charity. Experts will evaluate the overall length of service, successful experience in implementing new projects and developing existing ones. The winner of the competition will receive a prize of 100,000 rubles, a certificate of honor and a badge.
The award is organized in memory of Nadezhda Monetova, an employee of the Orthodox movement Kursky Railway Station. Homeless children." When she was 20, pregnant, she had to beg. Nadezhda was helped to return to a normal life, and the young woman decided to devote her life to serving the homeless. I sewed underwear for them, fed them, and gave them clothes at the warehouse. On the night of March 20, 2012, Nadezhda Monetova tragically died.
In 2013, the first prize in her name was awarded to Vera Kostyleva, the organizer of a homeless shelter in Arkhangelsk. Since then, the award has been given every year to those who help the homeless. Among the winners of recent years are Ilya Kuskov, director of the public-church shelter for homeless people "Warm Welcome", Vitaly Kurdeko, creator of the church medical and social project "Mercy Bus" in St. Petersburg, Hieromonk Siluan (Tsapin), head of the Blagoveshchenie Social Assistance Center. In 2024, the award was presented to Alexander Apanasenko, the founder of two centers for the dependent and homeless in Murmansk.
