On August 31, Khabarovsk hosted a poetic and journalistic performance "In the Year of God's Wrath" in honor of the 100th anniversary of Patriarch Tikhon's memory, organized by graduate students of the Khabarovsk State Institute of Culture and the Khabarovsk Diocese.
Before the performance, Bishop Innocent of Nikolaevsk and Bogorodsky addressed the audience.:
- Dear brothers and sisters, I see that there are a lot of schoolchildren here, and I would like to note that it is very symbolic that the stay of St. Tikhon's relics in Khabarovsk coincided with the beginning of the school year. We need to understand that there are earthly sciences that we need to study, but there are also spiritual laws that we need to know. Yes, our church formation is of great importance, in the Church we learn spiritual laws and receive divine grace that heals our damaged spirit. We must be faithful children of the Church of Christ, and such an ascetic of the Church of Christ during the years of persecution in the 17th year of the last century was St. Tikhon, who saved the Church from schism.
The hall of the Officers' House of the Eastern Military District was full, the audience came to get acquainted with the life feat of Patriarch Tikhon, which today echoes and is intertwined with our history. The paintings on the stage replaced one another, plunging Khabarovsk residents from a calm existence into an anxious time of persecution: the actors' acting, the scenery, the music, all this did not leave anyone indifferent.
- We came to the play with our daughter, she is 10 years old, before that we did not know about this saint. During the performance, my daughter was so impressed that she drew Patriarch Tikhon in her notebook. After the performance, we will go to a prayer service at his holy relics and pray. Now he is an important saint for us," said Tatiana, a parishioner of the Assumption Cathedral.
The performance of the aspiring actors also impressed the audience.
- The actors are so used to the role that I can't believe it's being played by students. It seems that people themselves have lived this time, these emotions and experiences of those people who lived then, that you involuntarily immerse yourself in this atmosphere, - said Tatiana.
Before the performance, the audience was presented with the exhibition "Who will separate us from the love of God", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the confessional death of St. Tikhon. The exhibition was developed by St. Tikhon's Orthodox University of the Humanities with the support of the St. Tikhon Scientific and Educational Foundation. When creating the exhibition, the biographical principle was used as a basis. The exhibition consists of eight modules-chapters, each of which tells about one of the periods of St. Tikhon's ministry, such as: "Studies and the beginning of ministry", "Ministry in America", "Yaroslavl Diocese", "Archbishop of Vilna and Lithuania", "Moscow. Revolution", "Local Council", "Election of the Patriarch", "Patriarchal ministry in the face of persecution", "The last years of St. Tikhon's life", "Veneration and glorification".
Khabarovsk residents looked with interest at information about the life of Patriarch Tikhon and asked questions to the priests who attended the performance.
