The event is dedicated to the memory of the holy Great Prince Mikhail of Tver.
At the opening, the address of the Head of the Tver Metropolis, Metropolitan Ambrose of Tver and Kashinsky, to the participants of the festival was read by the chairman of the Diocesan Department of Religious Education and Catechesis, Priest Vitaly Simora.
Metropolitan Ambrose thanked the organizers and participants of the festival for their efforts aimed at the spiritual, moral and patriotic education of people:
“I hope that your work will continue to help viewers get acquainted with Orthodox culture, help them find and strengthen faith and overcome the hustle and bustle of everyday life.”
The festival was held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Tver region, the Ministry of Sports and Youth of the Luhansk People's Republic, the Ministry of Education of the Luhansk People's Republic.
This year the festival has received the status of an International one. The competition program includes films from such countries as Russia, Uzbekistan, and Serbia.
The film festival program includes 22 competitive films: feature films, children's films, non-fiction films and short films. After each film, a discussion with the audience and the authors of the film is planned. The screenings will take place at two venues – in the KKZ "Panorama" and the Leisure center "Mir". Admission to all screenings is free.
At the opening of the festival, the film "The Easternmost Temple" (directed by Ivan Golovnev) was shown.
At the closing of the Russian Heart Film Festival, the film "Such Faith" by Serbian director Radislav Evrija was presented.
