The formation of the bell set of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Butki has been completed.
The temple is one of the oldest in Serpukhov. During the Soviet period, the church was closed and the bell tower was destroyed. Nowadays, the monastery is gaining a second life: restoration work is underway here, and believers are taking part in community work to improve the territory.
In 2017, small bells were installed in the church, but two main ones were missing. Ilya Drozdikhin, head of the Moscow Bell Ringers School and director of the Bell Foundry, was involved in their manufacture.
The bell tower was made using ancient technology using samples of pre-revolutionary casting.
This made it possible to achieve the precise, deep and rich sound inherent in traditional Russian bells and giving a special atmosphere to church services.
The missing bells were consecrated during a special visit to Serpukhov by Archbishop Axios of Podolsk and Lyubertsy. Now they have been returned to their historical place and will once again delight the parishioners of the temple.
