The guys from the Youth of the 21st Century volunteer group from the village of Bolshoy Atmas in the Cherlaksky district of the Omsk region decided to restore an ancient tradition and organized a holiday "Kolyada came to visit, she brought happiness to your house."
In the Russian Orthodox Church, the days from the Nativity of Christ to the Epiphany of the Lord are called Yuletide. In various local Churches, these holidays have other names: "The Twelve Days of Christmas", "Holy Days", "Christmas Days". At this time, it is customary to sing special songs praising Christ and go around the houses accepting treats. The main evening Yuletide festivities fall on Christmas and New Year in the old style.
The elegant and cheerful participants of the event visited the houses of their fellow villagers, sharing their good mood with them. The children sang merry Christmas carols, which are special songs with wishes for a rich harvest, health, longevity, and harmony in the family. The hospitable hosts generously presented the students with treats.
– Participation in such events gives young people the opportunity to touch the traditions and customs of the Russian people, to feel for themselves the charm of folk festivals and festivities. Everyone got positive emotions and a great mood," Natalia Glukhova, a specialist in youth work in Bolsheatmasky rural settlement, is sure.
