A meeting with students was held at the K.A. Timiryazev Agricultural College aimed at preventing extremism and terrorism among young people, which was attended by the clergy of the diocese — the head of the missionary department, Priest Luke (Kuzmin) and his assistant in the department, Priest Vladimir Romanov.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Internal Policy and Public Relations of the region as part of the implementation of the State National Policy Strategy. The meeting was attended by over 200 students representing various nationalities and faiths.
Father Luka told the students about methods of involvement in destructive sects, sectarian manipulation of consciousness and how to protect themselves from the risk of being involved in the activities of extremist organizations.
"Extremism often appears where there is no love, understanding and respect for others. This is the result of a loss of spiritual orientations, life values, and sometimes a sense of one's importance in society. The key to preventing this phenomenon are qualities such as compassion, kindness, tolerance, and respect for other cultures, nationalities, and faiths," said Hierarch Luke.
The students were also told about the responsibility for crimes of an extremist and terrorist nature, and the preventive work carried out by the authorities. Special attention was paid to the issues of ethical and spiritual and moral norms of modern Russian society.
Students actively asked questions and shared their opinions with experts.
