A significant event took place in the Vvedenskoe Stavropol monastery of Optina Pustyn: the reconstruction of the monastery's historical symbol, the figure of a trumpeting angel, was completed. It was installed above the Vladimir Tower.
In pre-revolutionary Optina, the majestic figure of a trumpeting angel crowned the main entrance to the monastery, the holy gate, and was visible from afar, especially to those who approached the monastery from the ferry crossing. After the revolution, it was lost. With the revival of the monastery, a wooden replica took its place, which eventually deteriorated and lost its function as a weather vane indicating the direction of the wind.
Now, during the reconstruction, the angel's figure, which was made of particularly durable metal, was equipped with a unique rotating mechanism that ensures ease of movement and fastening strength even in strong gusts of wind. This became possible thanks to the support of JSC "Scientific and Production Center for Automation and Instrumentation named after Academician N.A. Pilyugin".
