On October 25, 2024, the Ministry of Education of the Novosibirsk Region and the Novosibirsk Theological Seminary held a forum of young humanities scientists "Prospects for the development of artificial intelligence: the humanitarian aspect" in the program of the Educational Siberia forum-exhibition.
The forum was held for the purpose of professional discussion with young scientists of the humanitarian aspects of the development and use of AI in the modern anthropogenic space and solved the tasks of promoting scientific communication of young IT specialists and humanities in the field of AI use, increasing the level of understanding of the processes taking place in the field of AI application and forecasting its prospects, deepening mutual understanding of young scientists from different directions of modern science. More than 100 employees, teachers and students of universities, colleges and scientific organizations of Russia came to participate in the event.
The forum opened with a welcoming speech by Metropolitan Nikodim of Novosibirsk and Berdsk. He reminded the audience of the words of the Apostle Paul: "Everything is permissible to me, but not everything is useful; everything is permissible to me, but not everything edifies" (1 Corinthians 10:23). The bishop urged, without turning away from new technologies, to remember that artificial intelligence cannot and should not replace, replace the freedom and responsibility of moral choice.
Presentations were made by artificial intelligence specialists — the head of the Artificial Intelligence Technology Department of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Novosibirsk Region, M.V. Antonova, and the director of the Artificial Intelligence Cluster in Novosibirsk, I.A. Boldyrev.
The humanitarian understanding of new information technologies and artificial intelligence in the context of humanitarian problems of modern society was proposed by V.N. Katasonov, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Theology (General Church Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies named after Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius, Moscow, online), Candidate of Sociological Sciences E.E. Zhukovskaya (member of the Synodal Commission on Bioethics, member of the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church Of the Church, Associate professor of the Sretensky Theological Academy, Moscow), Doctor of Philosophy O.A. Donskikh (Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management).
At the end of the reports, a discussion took place that demonstrated the relevance of the topic of the forum of young scientists, which it was decided to make regular for Novosibirsk.
