On October 10, Metropolitan Nicodemus of Novosibirsk and Berdsk consecrated one of the branches of the Orthodox center for homeless assistance "Tabor".
Elena Viktorovna Bakhareva, Minister of Labor and Social Development of the Novosibirsk Region, attended the consecration and opening of the center. With the support of the Ministry of Social Development, a number of socially significant projects are being implemented in the Novosibirsk diocese, among which a special place is occupied by helping people who find themselves in a difficult life situation - without shelter and documents, without the support of relatives and friends.
The new branch of the Orthodox center for homeless assistance "Favor" is located in the suburban village of Mochishche - the building, which opened after renovation, will be able to accommodate 40 guests, shelter, food will be provided to those in need, legal and psychological assistance will be provided.
"People who have been left without a fixed place of residence, the disabled, women who have found themselves in a difficult life situation will apply to this center. We are well aware that it is during the winter months that the number of people who need such assistance increases many times. And thanks to the opening of this center, we will be able to receive more people," Metropolitan Nikodim said on the opening day of the center. "We are obliged to help if we are Christians and believe in the Lord!"
Minister of Labor and Social Development E.V. Bakhareva thanked Metropolitan Nikodim and the staff of the Novosibirsk Diocese for their concern and the development of projects significant for the region. "We have government agencies that help people of this category, but people of a much broader category can apply here, and thanks to our joint work, the effectiveness of assistance will only increase," Elena Viktorovna stressed.
