On March 13, 2025, the Yakut Momskaya Secondary School hosted a meeting between Priest Evgeny Raikov, rector of the Church of St. Nicholas of Myra in the village of Honuu, with students in grades V-VII. The meeting was dedicated to the memory of the victims of political repression and was held as part of the project of the Yakut Diocese "The Silent Conscience of the People: in memory of Holy Patriarch Tikhon of Moscow and all victims of political repression", which is being implemented using a grant from the President of the Russian Federation provided by the Presidential Grants Fund. The participants of the meeting were invited to take part in the creative children's and youth drawing contest "The Silent Conscience of the people". The competition is aimed at fostering kindness and compassion, respect for historical memory.
Opening the meeting, Ruslan Karlovich Sidorov, a history and social studies teacher, recalled the history of the GULAG and said that from 1937 to 1953, three political prisoner camps were established in the Momsky district. In the upper reaches of the Moma and Indigirka rivers, prisoners mined ore in difficult conditions. Photographs of M. Cheremkin from the places where the Inlag labor camp used to be located at a distance from the village of Sasyr were shown. Father Evgeny shared his thoughts on the past of the Fatherland, giving examples from the life and work of Russian classics.
Antonina Ilyinichna Nikulina, head of the Museum of the History of the school, emphasized the exceptional importance of preserving national memory, knowledge of the history of the Fatherland, and the history of the small Motherland.
