On July 13, a two-day theological seminar for laymen concluded at the parish of St. Moses the Ethiopian in the village of Munzasti (Vihiga Deanery), Kenya. The event was attended by representatives from several parishes of the deanery, as reported by the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
During the seminar, presentations were given by Dean Fr. Nikanor Shilesi, Fr. Spyridon Sabwa, Fr. John Mutsootso, Fr. Athanasius Amadiva, and Fr. Nicodemus Karanja. The meeting focused on church services and sacraments, with particular emphasis on the order of the Divine Liturgy.
An Orthodox Brotherhood has been operating in the village of Munzasti since October 9, 2023. According to the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, the goal of this community is to foster unity and mutual support among believers, encourage labor for the Church's benefit, and deepen knowledge of the Orthodox faith. At their meetings, discussions are held about the role of male parishioners in the Church and how to develop parishes.
Educational seminars are also held for women in the deanery, organized by the Union of Orthodox Mothers. The topics of these seminars include the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, the veneration of the Mother of God in Orthodoxy, and the theme of marriage and family as a small church.
