In the Kenyan village of Indagalaсia (Deanery of Kakamega), a significant mass baptism took place, as reported by the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa. In the parish of the Apostle Matthew, 20 former Protestants were baptized. The sacrament was performed by the parish priest, Father John Karakacha, and Father Miron Likoti.

Before undergoing baptism, the believers underwent a five-month catechetical period under the guidance of Father John. According to Orthodox tradition, catechism is required for all adults and children over the age of 7. The priest engages in conversations with those desiring baptism, conveying the true essence of the sacrament and teaching them the fundamentals of the Orthodox faith.

Just a week ago, in the same Kakamega Deanery, another baptism took place in the village of Essaba, where 18 individuals joined the Russian Orthodox Church. Currently, there are nine deaneries under the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa in the country. Since the beginning of 2023, when the Russian Church obtained registration in Kenya, 993 people from 22 parishes have completed lecture courses on Sacred Scripture and Catechism. Many Kenyan priests have successfully completed theological online courses at the Moscow Theological Academy, with three Kenyan students studying in Russian seminaries and ten others preparing for admission. In late 2023, a series of educational seminars were held in Kenya, where missionaries from the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa informed believers about the history of the Orthodox Church, the doctrinal teachings on the Holy Trinity, the sacraments of Confession and the Eucharist, and other fundamental concepts of Orthodox doctrine.
