The Old Believer Church named after the Solovki Wonderworkers Zosima and Savvaty was consecrated in the capital of Karelia, Petrozavodsk. The consecration was carried out by the head of the Old Believer Church, Metropolitan Korniliy. After the liturgy, the Metropolitan addressed the faithful with a sermon and expressed gratitude to the government and the head of the republic for their support in the construction of the church.
"This is the miracle that the Lord has performed, with the hands and deeds of people, but it is a great divine mercy that such a church has emerged in the northern Karelian land. It is not large in size, but it is the island where people will come to seek refuge from the troubles, worries, and hustle of life. This is a place of divine grace. I believe that the congregation will grow," Metropolitan Korniliy addressed the believers.
As reported by the news agency "Respublika," the plot for the construction of the Old Believer church was allocated in 2017. The location was chosen deliberately: the main industry of the area is a sawmill, around which the settlement of Solomennoye, founded by the Old Believers' representative and merchant Gromov, developed. The Zosima and Savvaty church can accommodate 100 people. Next to the church, a house was built that houses a Sunday school and a spiritual enlightenment center. Here, believers can gather for communal prayers, concerts of spiritual music, exhibitions, conferences, and lectures.
