The Bulgarian Orthodox Church of St. George the Victorious in Orlando, Florida, has called on its parishioners and residents of the state to pray for deliverance from the approaching Hurricane "Milton." According to the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), the church issued a message urging, "May God, through the prayers of St. George, protect you, your families, and your homes from the impending danger."

The parish gathered recently for a prayer service, and parishioners helped prepare the church for any potential impact from the hurricane. Additionally, the Bulgarian-American Cultural Center in Sarasota joined in the call for safety by sharing information about evacuation zones and shelters for those in need. The center also offered transportation assistance via an online taxi service.

Hurricane Milton poses a serious threat to Florida's western and central coasts. Local Bulgarian organizations are hoping for a safe outcome. According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC), Milton's maximum wind speeds are currently about 250 kilometers per hour. The storm is expected to continue being an "extreme threat" as it approaches Florida's coast on Wednesday evening local time. Water levels may rise as much as 4.5 meters in certain areas, and the center also predicts possible tornadoes in central and southern Florida.
