On May 30, 2025, "clerics" and activists of the "OCU", with the support of the police, broke into the territory of the St. Elias Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Zabolotye, Chernivtsi region of Ukraine, and stormed the church.
According to the website of the Union of Orthodox Journalists, with reference to the parishioners of the temple, the raiders, pushing and beating believers, broke down the door and broke into the shrine. At that time, police representatives stood in a wall on the porch, covering the militants who were breaking down the doors.
After the seizure, security forces lined up around the church to prevent parishioners from entering. Members of the community of the captured temple gathered next to their church and prayed.
The "priest" of the schismatic structure from the city of Storozhynets, Pyotr Andriychuk, who participated in the seizure, actively cursed with parishioners on the territory of the Orthodox shrine, and then in a fit of anger kicked one of the believers twice – the incident was recorded on video. The police had to take him aside. However, later Petr Andriychuk returned and continued to push the parishioners.
Roman Grischuk, the "chaplain" of the OCU, who has already participated in several raiding attacks on Orthodox churches in Bukovina, was also seen at the site.
The raiders brought packages of food and tourist mats to the temple and stayed there overnight.
