The Archdiocesan Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad convened at the Znamensky Cathedral in New York, according to the Western European Diocese's press service.

The meeting was attended by Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany, Archbishops Kirill of San Francisco and Western America, Gabriel of Montreal and Canada, and Peter of Chicago and Mid-America, as well as Bishops Irenei of London and Western Europe and Theodosius of Seattle.

Opening the session, Metropolitan Nikolai reported on the celebrations he led, including the twentieth-anniversary celebrations of Archbishop Peter's episcopal service, held on the feast of the Chief Apostles Peter and Paul at the Protection Cathedral in Chicago, and the fortieth anniversary of the canonical reception of the Holy Nativity Parish in Erie, Pennsylvania. He also spoke about his recent visit to the Holy Land, where he venerated the great shrines of Christianity, conducted divine services, and met with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilus III, clergy, and monastics of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem and the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission (within the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia), as well as other dignitaries.

After hearing a report by the Secretary of the Synod for Inter-Orthodox Relations, Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, the archpastors resolved to call upon the clergy and laity to fervently pray for the persecuted Ukrainian Orthodox Church under the leadership of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.

The Archdiocesan Synod also discussed matters related to the upcoming celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville and the 30th anniversary of the discovery of the incorrupt relics of St. John (Maximovich), Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco, the Wonderworker.

The Archdiocesan Synod blessed the organization of the All-Diaspora Youth Congress in Germany in June 2024.

Subsequently, the Archdiocesan Synod addressed various administrative and financial matters, as well as church-disciplinary issues and petitions from archpastors recommending several clergy and laymen from their dioceses for ecclesiastical awards.
