On Saturday, over 1,000 people participated in a charity run aimed at raising funds for the construction of the St. Christopher Children's Hospice in Cluj, Romania. The event, held in Cluj Central Park, was organized by the Romanian Orthodox Christian Students Association and the Cluj Archdiocese of the Romanian Orthodox Church, according to basilica.ro.
Before the run began, Father Benedict Bistrițean, one of the hospice's founders, addressed the participants, conveying the blessing of Archbishop Andrei of Cluj and highlighting the efforts of everyone involved in organizing the run.
The event featured two race categories to accommodate different age groups: the "Big Run" with a 5 km course for adults and teenagers, and the "Small Run" with an 800 m course for children under 14. In addition to the races, the park hosted various workshops, including bracelet-making and archery, among other activities. The event concluded with an award ceremony and performances by local music groups.
The foundation stone for the St. Christopher Children's Hospice was laid on October 13, 2022. According to the Cluj Archdiocese, construction is progressing rapidly, with current efforts focused on reinforcing and pouring the second-floor concrete slabs.
