Russian President Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill exchanged official Easter greetings, highlighting the role of the Russian Orthodox Church in promoting spiritual and social values.
In a congratulatory message published on the Kremlin’s website, Putin praised the Patriarch’s contribution to preserving moral and spiritual traditions. He noted that Kirill’s “wise pastoral word” helps unite society, supports people during difficult times, and encourages compassion, justice, and charity. The president also emphasized the Church’s role in strengthening family values, educating youth, and supporting participants and veterans of Russia’s military operations.
“I sincerely congratulate you on the bright feast of Easter… I wish you success in all your endeavors, good health, and long life,” Putin said in his message.
In his response, Patriarch Kirill thanked the president for his continued attention to the Church’s mission and support for important social initiatives. He подчеркнул (emphasized) that the celebration of Christ’s Resurrection has, for centuries, inspired believers to perform good deeds, endure hardships, and strive for peace and unity.
“I would like to sincerely thank you for your constant attention to the service of the Russian Orthodox Church,” the Patriarch said in a message published on the Moscow Patriarchate’s website.
Patriarch Kirill also extended Easter greetings to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, marking the occasion with messages of goodwill and unity.
