On July 7, 2024, a spiritual and educational festival "Family Day" will be held in the village of Zakharovo near the walls of the church of the Blessed Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia.
The event will take place on the eve of the memorial Day of Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom, revered by the Russian Orthodox Church as patrons of family and marriage.
Among the organizers of the festival are the administration of the Odintsovo City District of the Moscow Region and the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media.
The festival program includes a theatrical animation program and the glorification of married couples of the district according to the ancient Russian custom from the Theater of the Honored Artist of Russia Natalia Bondareva, an equestrian show, thematic workshops and other activities for the whole family. The festival will end with a theatrical and musical performance "Peter and Fevronia: how love defeated death" with the participation of the famous performer Hieromonk Photius (Mochalov). The traditional Zvenigorod — Zakharovo bike ride, organized by the Orthodox parishes of Zvenigorod and Odintsovo deaneries, will also take place as part of the holiday.
Zakharovo is one of the pearls of the cultural, historical and spiritual landscape of the Moscow region. This is a former noble manor, where A.S. Pushkin spent his early childhood. Today, there is an extensive picturesque park and the Pushkin State Historical and Literary Museum-Reserve with the recreated estate of Maria Alekseevna Hannibal, the poet's grandmother.
"The year 2024 has been declared the Year of the Family by the President of Russia, and it is encouraging to see that this topic unites the activities of church organizations, local authorities, cultural figures and, of course, large and multigenerational families, and just numerous people who share fundamental family values," says Vladimir Legoyda, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with society and the media. — The Church, as we know, not only cares about the well-being of family relations in this special year, but the year 2024 is important because today there are initiatives that lay new traditions. I believe that "Family Day" will become an annual event."
Attendance at all events is free, registration is not required.
