On the occasion of Orthodox Easter, President Vladimir Putin extended warm greetings to Orthodox Christians, all citizens of Russia, and His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The President highlighted the enduring significance of the holiday and the vital role of the Russian Orthodox Church in the life of the nation.
“The great feast of Pascha brings us love and hope, faith in goodness and justice, and unites us around timeless spiritual and moral ideals,” the President said in his message, published on the official Kremlin website.
Putin emphasized the valuable contributions of religious organizations, particularly in supporting those defending the homeland, strengthening family values, educating youth, and promoting cultural and patriotic initiatives.
In a special note of gratitude to Patriarch Kirill, the President acknowledged his personal role in fostering close cooperation between the Church and the Russian state. “The Paschal celebrations illuminate our lives with joy and love… It is important that under your leadership, the Russian Orthodox Church continues the centuries-old traditions of responsible service,” Putin wrote.
In response, Patriarch Kirill thanked the President for his consistent support. In a message published on the Moscow Patriarchate’s website, the Patriarch expressed hope for the continued strengthening of church-state relations. “I would like to express my gratitude for your active support of efforts aimed at reinforcing the spiritual and moral foundations of our people’s lives,” he noted.
The mutual exchange of Easter greetings underscores the ongoing collaboration between the Russian Orthodox Church and the federal government in addressing both spiritual and societal needs across the country.
