Russian Church Representatives Participate in Consecration of Serbian Church in Argentina

On November 5th, in the city of Resistencia, Chaco Province, Argentina, His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, consecrated the Holy Trinity Church and celebrated the Divine Liturgy within.

Several hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church joined their Primate in the service: Bishop Arsenije of Nis, Bishop Nikodim of Dalmatia, Bishop Mefodije of Budimlje and Nikšić, Bishop Stefan of Remeziana, the Vicar of the Belgrade-Karlovci Diocese, Bishop Kirill of Buenos Aires and South Central America. Also present at the service were Bishop John of Caracas and South America (Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia) and ruling hierarch of the Argentinian Diocese of the Moscow Patriarchate, Bishop Leonid.

The Divine Liturgy was conducted with participation from the clergy of the Russian and Serbian Orthodox Churches in Latin America, including Father Sergey Yurin, the secretary of the Argentinian Diocese, as reported by the diocesan telegram channel.

During the liturgical celebration, prayers were offered in Serbian, Church Slavonic, and Spanish languages.

The festive service was attended by Jorge Capitanich, the governor of Chaco Province, Deyan Blagojevic, the Charge d'Affaires of the Republic of Serbia in the Argentine Republic, representatives of local authorities, the Roman Catholic Church, the Serbian diaspora, and numerous guests. In recognition of his efforts in the construction of the church, Governor Jorge Capitanich was honored with the Order of Saint Sava (2nd Degree).
