Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church-Society and Media Relations, Professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, member of the Public Chamber V.R. Legoyda took part in the World Youth Festival, which takes place on March 1-7, 2024 in the federal territory of Sirius.
V.R. Legoyda delivered a lecture "Russian culture in the world cultural space" to Russian and foreign schoolchildren. The lecture was held at the Sirius Educational Center as part of the junior program "Together into the Future".
The professor spoke about what culture and cultural identity are, touched upon the issues of the relationship between culture and religion, and considered the main categories of Russian culture. From the lecture, the audience learned about such concepts as "culture of guilt" and "culture of shame", about the three foundations of European culture, about what "culture of cancellation" and "cancellation of culture" are. Special attention was paid to the current stage of the development of world and national culture.
On the same day, V.R. Legoyda took part in the opening ceremony of the Sirius Library, which was held as part of the World Youth Festival program.
During his speech, V.R. Legoyda shared his thoughts on what a library is, talked about the importance of reading books in the modern world. He pointed out that "it is worth reading only those books that a person would like to reread," and shared his slogan for the library: "Take care of your eyesight — read only good books." In his opinion, the library is designed to become a meeting place where readers will have serious conversations and discuss important issues.
The World Youth Festival brings together 20,000 Russian and foreign young leaders in business, media, international cooperation, culture, science, education, volunteerism and charity, sports, various spheres of public life, as well as teenagers representing various children's organizations and associations.
