The annual prayer procession with the Velikoretsk Icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker to the place of his appearance has been taking place for more than six centuries. The dates of the procession are unchanged — from 3 to 8 June. The procession is timed to coincide with the feast of the Velikoretsk Icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which is celebrated on June 6 in a new style.
The Velikoretsky procession begins in the center of the city of Kirov — from the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Trifonov Monastery. Then the column of pilgrims passes through the settlements of Makarye, Bobino, Votskaya and Monastyrskoye villages. The main goal of the march is the village of Velikoretskoye, where the main divine services and festive prayer services are held on June 6 at the venerated image of St. Nicholas.
The Velikoretsky Procession is a solemn procession of clergymen and lay believers with a cross, icons, banners and the Velikoretsky image of St. Nicholas. The procession is carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Russian Orthodox Church for the purpose of prayerful worship of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and his Velikoretsky image at the place of his finding in 1383, as well as glorifying God for His generous mercies to all Orthodox Christians who diligently venerate this miraculous image.
