Russian Russian Embassy will take actions in relation to the Church of St. Nicholas - the Russian Church in Sofia in coordination with the Russian Orthodox Church. This was reported to TASS by Russian Ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova.
Russian Russian Orthodox Church in Sofia will take any actions in accordance with the decision of the Russian Orthodox Church. At the moment, we do not know that Patriarch Kirill has received a letter from Patriarch Neophyte, we do not know the decision of the ROC," the diplomat said.
The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria is the official owner of the temple and has a corresponding notarial act.
On September 21, the State Agency for National Security decided to expel three representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church from the country, headed by Archimandrite Vassian, the rector of the metochion in Sofia, another clergyman and the driver of the rector. The agency imposed administrative restrictive measures against them, motivating it allegedly with "a hybrid strategy of the Russian Federation to exert a targeted impact on the socio-political processes in Bulgaria in favor of Russian geopolitical interests." It was pointed out that the activities of these representatives of the ROC were directed against the national security and interests of the republic.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has defined what is happening as an anti-Russian provocation by the Bulgarian authorities.
