A few years ago, the churches in Hopylevo were ruins. In 2017, the Board of Trustees for the restoration of shrines was established. It was in the Epiphany Church that the invincible Russian Admiral Fyodor Ushakov was baptized, later beatified. The work was initiated at that time by the governor of the region Dmitry Mironov, and the Board of Trustees was headed by the then chairman of the regional government Dmitry Stepanenko. Vitaly Goroshnikov, a well-known publisher from Rybinsk, supervised the work.
The total cost of restoration and related work, according to the regional government, amounted to more than 900 million rubles. The consecration ceremony was attended by Governor Mikhail Evraev and Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for State Property Management Dmitry Stepanenko.
"In the future, it is planned to make a road to Burnakovo – this is the birthplace of Fyodor Ushakov. A chapel has already been built there, and there are thoughts to restore the estate where the family of the future admiral lived. Further plans are global. Fixed assets are non—budgetary sources. We will move gradually," Dmitry Stepanenko said.
The Divine Liturgy was led by the administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Gregory of the Resurrection, and Metropolitan Vadim of Yaroslavl and Rostov took part in it.
