On December 9, Metropolitan Constantine, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, led a Divine Liturgy at the newly established parish in Rubare, Uganda, dedicated to All Saints who shone in the land of Egypt. During the service, he baptized 117 individuals who had previously been part of two non-canonical communities. These new converts had undergone catechism under the guidance of Hieromonk Siluan (Brown).
The Liturgy was co-served by clergy from Uganda and Rwanda, including Father Georgy Maximov, the head of the Exarchate’s Missionary Department. Following the service, Metropolitan Constantine addressed the newly baptized faithful with a pastoral message and officially established two new parishes. The first, dedicated to All Saints, who shone in Egypt, and the second to St. Simeon the New Theologian. Father Pavel Baleydjusa was appointed as the rector for the latter parish. A tent was also donated to the parish of St. Simeon to facilitate worship services.
Earlier in the week, on December 7, Metropolitan Constantine presided over another Liturgy at the parish of St. Alexius of Moscow in Nkocondere, where he baptized 17 children before the service. Additionally, 32 local residents were baptized at the Missionary Center of St. John of Shanghai in Kiboga, where Hieromonk Siluan (Brown) and the clergy of the Eastern Diocese performed the sacrament.
This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the Orthodox Christian presence in Uganda and East Africa, as Metropolitan Constantine continues his mission to expand and consolidate the faithful in the region.
