On September 29, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije led a divine liturgy at the recently restored St. Nicholas Cathedral in Kotor, Montenegro. The liturgy was attended by a large gathering of clergy, monks, and faithful, marking a significant moment in the cathedral's history. Patriarch Porfirije was joined by several prominent bishops, including Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral, Metropolitan Nikodim of Dalmatia, and Bishop Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina.

During the service, Archpriest Nemanja Krivokapić, the head of the Kotor-Tivat parish, was elevated to the rank of protopresbyter-stavrophore, a high honor in the Serbian Orthodox Church. In his response, Krivokapić expressed his gratitude for the privilege of bearing the cross, a symbol of Christ's victory over evil and Christian self-sacrifice.

In his homily, Patriarch Porfirije reflected on the Gospel reading about the royal wedding banquet, using it as a metaphor for the Kingdom of Heaven. He emphasized that God's Kingdom is open to all, but it is up to each person to decide whether to join in this divine joy or remain separated by materialism and selfish pursuits. The Patriarch also reminded the congregation that true virtue lies not only in outward actions but in inner humility and service to others. He called on believers to strive for spiritual growth and live lives devoted to serving both God and their neighbors.

Following the liturgy, Metropolitan Joanikije expressed his gratitude to Patriarch Porfirije for his care for the Serbian people and for visiting Kotor. He remarked that the restoration of the cathedral symbolizes not just the renewal of a building but the spiritual renewal of all the faithful in the region.

As a gesture of appreciation, the municipality of Kotor presented Patriarch Porfirije with a medieval copy of the city's Statute, while the Church municipality awarded him the Order of St. Sava for his contributions to the restoration of the cathedral and his dedication to the spiritual life of the community.
