On September 25, 2023, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia led the work of the Meeting of Hegumens and Abbesses of Monasteries of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Hall of Church Cathedrals of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.

Before the beginning of the meeting, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the lower Transfiguration Church of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
The service was performed by: Metropolitan Feognost of Kashira, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism, Vicar of the Don Stavropol Monastery in Moscow; Chairman of the Commission for the Organization of the Life of Monasteries and Monasticism of the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas; Metropolitan Zinovy of Saransk and Mordovia; metropolitan clergy.

During the service, the participants of the meeting prayed, who, after the Liturgy, proceeded to the Hall of Church Cathedrals.

The seats in the presidium of the meeting were taken by: His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia; Managing Director of the Moscow Patriarchate, Vicar of the Novospassky Stavropol Monastery of Moscow Metropolitan Dionysius of Resurrection; Metropolitan Feognost of Kashira; Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas; Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism, Abbess of the Zachatievsky Stavropol Convent of Moscow Abbess Juliania (Kaleda).
A number of bishops, hegumens and abbesses of monasteries from the dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church took part in the meeting.
Opening the meeting, Metropolitan Theognost of Kashira greeted His Holiness Patriarch Kirill on behalf of all those gathered.
The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church made a keynote speech.

Then Metropolitan Zinovy of Saransk and Mordovia made a report "Monastic feat as a way of Christian asceticism".
Bishop Siluan of Pavlovo-Posadsky, Deputy Administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate, presented a report on the topic "Prayer is the cause of salvation, the culprit of the immortality of the soul" (svt. John Chrysostom). Prayerful Activity as a way to Communion with God: what promotes and what hinders prayer?".
After Bishop Siluan's report, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill answered a question about his spiritual mentors and addressed the participants of the meeting with a parting message.

Metropolitan Theognost cordially thanked His Holiness on behalf of all those present for the informative speeches, noting their special spiritual significance for the monastics.
After the break, the Meeting of Hegumens and abbesses of the monasteries of the Russian Orthodox Church continued its work.
