On the 20th Week after Pentecost, October 26, 2025, the day of remembrance of the Holy Fathers of the VII Ecumenical Council, the feast of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the rite of renovation of the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos of the Novodevichy Stavropol Convent in Moscow and the Divine Liturgy in the renovated church.
In the Assumption Church of the Novodevichy Monastery there is a miraculous list of the icon of the Mother of God "Iverskaya", brought in 1648 from the Holy Mount Athos. The oldest list of the Iveron Icon in Russia remained in the Novodevichy Monastery for three and a half centuries. After its closure, the icon was kept in the funds of the State Historical Museum. On May 6, 2012, the President of Russia handed over the miraculous image of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Upon arrival at the Assumption Church, His Holiness bowed to the miraculous list of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God.
Abbess of the Novodevichy Monastery, Abbess Margarita (Feoktistova), the nuns of the monastery, Sunday school students at the monastery, benefactors, donors and parishioners of the monastery prayed during the divine service.
At the end of the service, the glorification of the Most Holy Theotokos was performed, and His Holiness read a prayer in front of the miraculous Iveron icon of the Mother of God.
At the end of the Liturgy, Abbess Margarita (Feoktistova) greeted His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and presented His Holiness with an image of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
The Primate of the Russian Church addressed the participants of the divine service with a Primatial address.
As a gift to the monastery, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill gave the Valaam Icon of the Mother of God, and artistically published Gospels for cell reading to each resident of the monastery.
Then the presentation of church awards took place. Icons of the Iveron Mother of God with Patriarchal blessing were distributed to all believers.
