The mission of the Church in social media should be multiplied, missionary work should be included in the activities of every church organization, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia said, speaking at a meeting of the Supreme Church Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, his words are quoted on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church.
"Many priests are present on social media, and some have achieved significant success in this field. The mission in social media should multiply and become the subject of attention at all levels of church life also because new technologies have become a tool in the hands of all kinds of dangerous people, such as occultists, neo-pagans, esotericists, and simply charlatans of all stripes who seek to exploit natural spiritual demands for their own purposes. And the threat of seduction of people in these "agonies" in these spaces is extremely high now," Patriarch Kirill said.
He also noted that now in the Church "some bishops, especially priests, do not consider the mission to be a priority task." "Therefore, I want to emphasize once again that the testimony of Christ, that is, missionary work, should be included in the activities of every church organization — in the activities of the parish, deanery, diocese and the entire Church," concluded the primate of the Russian Church.
