His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and All Palestine welcomed Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas during a visit to the Jerusalem Patriarchate. The metropolitan was accompanied by Abbess Sergia (Konkova) of the Seraphim-Diveyevo Holy Trinity Monastery and a group of pilgrims from the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolis, according to the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem.
The meeting took place in the Small Throne Hall, where the delegation and the Patriarch exchanged gifts as a sign of spiritual fellowship. Metropolitan Georgy presented an icon of Saint Seraphim of Sarov and four specially commissioned icons for the Monastery of Saint Gerasimos of the Jordan. Abbess Sergia also offered an icon of the Mother of God "Tenderness" (Umilenie) to the Patriarch.
Patriarch Theophilos personally greeted each pilgrim and gave his primatial blessing, emphasizing the importance of their visit to the Holy Land. The meeting was also attended by Archimandrite Vassian (Zmeev), Head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, and his deputy, Igumen Nikon (Golovko).
Later that day, Metropolitan Georgy celebrated a thanksgiving moleben (prayer service) at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Jerusalem. He was joined by Archimandrite Vassian and clergy from the pilgrimage group. After the service, Metropolitan Georgy and Archimandrite Vassian exchanged greetings, highlighting the spiritual significance of prayerful presence in the Holy Land.
