With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, on July 28-30, 2024, the Moscow list of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was brought to Tambov. The shrine was delivered to the city as part of the All-Russian procession, which began at the walls of the Moscow Kremlin on May 6, the day of memory of the Great Martyr George the Victorious.
Since the beginning of the procession, the newly found icon has already been brought to 38 dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church. During this time, over 600 thousand believers worshiped the shrine and took part in the All-Russian prayer service for Victory.
On July 28, the 5th Week after Pentecost, the Holy Fathers of the six Ecumenical Cathedrals, the memorial day of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir, a solemn meeting of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God took place on the Cathedral Square of the Transfiguration Cathedral of Tambov. The meeting was led by Metropolitan Feodosiy of Tambov and Rasskazovsky and Bishop Joseph of Mozhaisk, vicar of the Vvedensky Stavropol Monastery of Optina Deserts.
With a large gathering of believers, the bishops performed a prayer singing about the victory, about the Russian soldiers and their speedy victorious return. Then the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior.
